At Used Outboard Motors Australia, we are committed to providing quality used outboard motors that have been carefully inspected and tested before sale. We stand behind the products we sell and aim to give our customers confidence in every purchase.

Please read the following Warranty Policy carefully.

Limited Warranty Coverage

Where specified at the time of purchase, eligible used outboard motors are supplied with a 90-Day Limited Mechanical Warranty covering major internal mechanical components.

Warranty coverage begins on the date your motor is delivered or collected.

The warranty applies only to the original purchaser and is non-transferable.

What Is Covered

During the warranty period, we will repair, replace, or provide an appropriate solution for defects resulting from:

  • Internal engine mechanical failure
  • Manufacturing defects discovered after purchase
  • Faults that were not present in the product description
  • Defective internal components that fail under normal recreational use

All warranty claims are subject to inspection and approval by Used Outboard Motors Australia.

What Is Not Covered

This warranty does not cover:

  • Normal wear and tear
  • Cosmetic damage, scratches, dents, or paint fading
  • Damage caused during transportation after delivery
  • Improper installation
  • Incorrect fuel or oil usage
  • Corrosion caused by saltwater exposure
  • Lack of maintenance
  • Overheating due to blocked cooling systems
  • Propellers, batteries, spark plugs, filters, anodes, belts, seals, hoses, and other routine service items
  • Damage resulting from accidents, misuse, racing, commercial use, abuse, or negligence
  • Unauthorized repairs or modifications

Customer Responsibilities

To maintain warranty eligibility, customers must:

  • Install the motor correctly, preferably by a qualified marine technician.
  • Follow the manufacturer’s recommended maintenance schedule.
  • Use the correct fuel, lubricants, and oils.
  • Flush the engine with fresh water after saltwater use.
  • Store the motor properly when not in use.
  • Keep service and maintenance records.

Failure to properly maintain the engine may void the warranty.

Warranty Claim Procedure

If you believe your outboard motor has developed a fault covered by this warranty, please contact us as soon as possible.

To submit a warranty claim, you will need to provide:

  • Proof of purchase
  • Order number
  • Description of the issue
  • Clear photographs or videos (where applicable)
  • Service history (if requested)

In some cases, we may request that the motor be inspected by an approved marine technician before determining warranty eligibility.

Repairs and Replacement

If your warranty claim is approved, Used Outboard Motors Australia may choose to:

  • Repair the motor.
  • Replace defective components.
  • Supply a replacement motor of equal value (subject to availability).
  • Offer a partial or full refund where appropriate.

The remedy provided will depend on the nature of the fault and applicable Australian Consumer Law.

Shipping for Warranty Claims

Customers are generally responsible for the cost of transporting the motor to and from an authorised inspection or repair location unless otherwise required under Australian Consumer Law or agreed to by us.

Any approved warranty repairs will be carried out as quickly as reasonably possible.

Australian Consumer Law

Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL).

You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and to compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if they fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

Nothing in this Warranty Policy limits or excludes your rights under Australian Consumer Law.

Exclusions

This warranty becomes void if:

  • The engine serial number has been removed or altered.
  • The motor has been modified or altered without written approval.
  • Repairs have been performed by unauthorised persons without prior consent.
  • The motor has been used in racing, commercial hire, or other applications beyond normal recreational boating unless specifically agreed upon.
